Now we’re even George! LOL!
So here I am in WordPress. I MUST say that for a guy who is a decade removed from the “Techno babies”, I’m starting to catch up. Take an image of a baby starting to walk looking at a marathon runner and you’ll see the difference between myself and this world’s FUTURE. When you can take learning to text a smiling face as the equivalent to “discovering fire”, you know you are a LONG way from holding your own against the “Half Borgs” out there.
And I’m old enough to think I can make a “Borg” reference and think it’s funny! LOL!
Now if you don’t know me, (and if you are reading this and don’t know me let me say “I’m sorry you stumbled onto this mess…hope you left some breadcrumbs to find your way out) I’ve tried to be Mr. “With it”, but technology is something that I can only understand in time. When it finally DOES come to me, It’s like quicksilver after that (except if I were to attatch links to blogs made at other sites…THAT’LL never happen! LOL!
Oh, yeah….lots of “inside jokes” sorry.
But let’s get back to Technology. SURE the kids of today are learning to work through a computer at a very young age. My children are very good at using the computer, where when I was their age, my school was just getting computers IN the schools…and it was the only ONE….and did practically nothing of educational value except for us to learn patience in waiting for the darn thing to boot up! THEY can surf the web and do other crazy stuff, to work the fiber optics in their minds to expand further and making them super smart for the future! LOL! Again, this is something that I didn’t have at 7/8 years of age….
…and I’m only 35 (more on THAT in another blog).
That’s how much tech can change in a quarter of a century (which I’ll argue, I was 19 when the internet first started really going….thank you Broadband! I HATED dial up! LOL!), but the point I THINK I’m trying to make is that I was THIS close to being in this new generation of “savvy” guys and girls, and that “this close” feels like a brick wall separating me from where I want to be…
My only concession is that while I can text (barely….140 characters? I can’t DO 140! I’m a 160 man! LOL!), the fear is that the youth are not learning the proper skills set to be able to actually have a conversation with someone face to face…leaving me the CHAMPION of the future for some time to come!
(I hope! If it’s not, I’ll just tell them to “Look me in the EYE and say that! Can’t do it can you PUNK, you’re too busy texting…oh hey I got a text…[DELETED]!” LOL!)
